Services
Massage Therapy, Manual Lymph Drainage* and Craniosacral Therapy* sessions: 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes, 75 minutes and 90 minutes.
*Note: Certified Lymphedema Therapist, Certified Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist, Craniosacral Therapy (Lv 1 Upledger), Reiki Level 2
Private Tutoring for students and graduates of Massage Certificate Programs in Anatomy, Body Mechanics and Advanced Techniques in Massage.
Each bodywork session is tailored to your needs. Time is taken each session to allow us to talk about what your needs are for that day and any updates in your health.
I offer an eclectic massage treatment. Each session is unique and created by taking into account what your body needs in that moment.
Relaxation can be a key factor in the releasing of muscle tension. Lots of deep pressure is not always necessary. Both the massage therapist and the client pay attention to how the body is responding - some areas of the body may need or respond better to deeper pressures while others may require lighter, faster speeds. Sessions can be adjusted to meet the client's needs. Remember: you are in charge of your own body and your own healing. I will use a mix of manual lymph drainage, muscular therapy, craniosacral therapy and other tools when creating your session with you.
I am also trained in Oncology Massage. NOTE: If you are currently in treatment, or if your last treatment session was less than 12 months ago, you will need permission from your physician.
What is Muscular Therapy?
Benjamin System of Muscular Therapy is a type of massage therapy that combines treatment with client education to reduce or eliminate chronic muscle tension and promote physical health. It is a unique synthesis of massage techniques relating to each muscle group in the body, applied with various speeds, rhythms and pressures.
What is Manual Lymph Drainage?
MLD is a very light modality that addresses the superficial lymphatic system. As these vessels are embedded in the skin, the pressure is only enough to lightly stretch the skin. The stretches are slow and mechanical to aid the absorption of fluid into the lymph vessels.
What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. It was pioneered and developed by Osteopathic Physician John E. Upledger after years of clinical testing and research at Michigan State University where he served as a professor of biomechanics.
Using a soft touch which is generally no greater than 5 grams -- about the weight of a nickel -- practitioners release restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system. CST is increasingly used as a preventative health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and it's effective for a wide rangs of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction. (Description from the Upledger Institute)
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy. It is an ancient healing art that is a gentle, non-invasive, hands-on technique that can assist the body's natural capacity to heal. Universal Life Energy flows to the recipient through the Reiki practitioner's hands. It is not the practitioner's energy, but what the recipient's body needs for balancing that is allowed to flow. Reiki can be done over clothing or 2-3 inches above the body.
What is Cancer/Oncology Massage?
The adaptation of massage to safely nurture body, mind and spirit of anyone who is dealing with cancer. (definition from the Society of Oncology Massage) Oncology Massage can benefit cancer patients at all stages of cancer, during and after treatment, in remission, cure or at the end of life.
